Meet the Team of Lévy Gorvy with Rumbler, Zürich

As we open our new advisory office in Zürich, Switzerland, it gives us great pleasure to introduce you to the staff of Lévy Gorvy with Rumbler! Led by Andreas Rumbler, this four-strong team brings over 60 years of cumulative experience. With Zürich chosen for its central location within Europe, the team will foster and deepen the gallery’s relationships not only with leading collectors and clients in Switzerland, Germany, and Austria, but across Europe. Together, the Lévy Gorvy with Rumbler team speak German, French, Italian, Spanish, and English.

About the Team  

Andreas Rumbler, Partner

Andreas Rumbler joins Lévy Gorvy after a tenure of nearly three decades at Christie’s.  He was named Chairman of Christie’s Switzerland in 2010 and ran Christie’s German operation from 2000-10. In his role as Deputy Chairman of the house’s Impressionist and Modern Department he worked on bringing to auction many notable international collections and masterworks. He joined the Christie’s Print department in London in 1989, and quickly developed a passion for early 20th Century European avant-garde, particularly German Expressionism. Rumbler was instrumental in establishing Christie’s leadership in the German and Austrian art market, resulting in record prices for artists such as Schiele, Klimt, Kandinsky and Franz Marc, and culminating in the 2006 world record sale of Ernst Ludwig Kirchner’s Berliner Strassenszene (Berlin Street Scene). Rumbler also negotiated restitution of this notable work and continues to be a foremost advisor on restitution cases. He has secured and overseen many high-profile estate sales, including that of Swiss art connoisseur and museum founder Ernst Beyeler.

Nadine Kriesemer, Director

Previously Nadine Kriesemer worked as a Director & Specialist for Sotheby’s Impressionist, Modern and Contemporary Art departments for 16 years. From 2007-08 she became a specialist in the Contemporary department in London and has been instrumental in many major consignments in the Impressionist, Modern and Contemporary Art fields. As an auctioneer, Nadine has successfully conducted many charity auctions in Switzerland. Prior to joining Sotheby’s, she spent three years at Galerie von Bartha in Basel where she ran the gallery on a day-to-day basis, exhibiting at various fairs such as Art Basel and TEFAF Maastricht. She studied Art History, Archaeology, and History at the University of Basel and is fluent in German, English, French, and Italian.

Frédéric Maillard, Assistant Sales Director

Originally from Geneva, Frédéric Maillard joins Lévy Gorvy with Rumbler from the Christie’s Post War & Contemporary department in London, where he worked for two years as a cataloguer. He is President and Founder of MAMCO NextGen, the young patrons group of the Musée d’Art Moderne et Contemporain) in Geneva. Maillard has a Bachelor of Science in Management and Economics from HEC Lausanne, and a Master of Letters in Modern and Contemporary Art from University of Glasgow, Scotland. He speaks French, English, German, and Spanish.

Luzi Stahel, Assistant Gallery Manager

Prior to joining Lévy Gorvy with Rumbler, Luzi Stahel worked in the Business Development Department of Christie’s in Zürich. Luzi has a Bachelors in Art History and Economics from the University of Basel. After studies at the Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne, he received a Masters in Art History and Image Theory from the University of Basel. Luzi gained experience working for institutions such as the Antikenmusem Basel, as well as auctions houses and contemporary art galleries in Basel and Zürich.
