2014 was the year I ran the Paris Marathon. It was also the year I saw the Matisse cut-outs exhibition at MoMA and cleaned out my brassiere collection. Left over from that endeavor was a selection of randomly shaped bra inserts arranged on my floor. Inspired by the French master, I immortalized these happy, curvilinear shapes in a tiny series of watercolor paintings. – Laura Howell
