Dominique Lévy is pleased to present Andy Warhol: Dollar Signs, the special exhibition curated for Art Basel Hong Kong, May 22-26, 2013, in Booth 3E11.
Warhol has exerted an enormous influence upon contemporary Chinese art over the past several decades. With this in mind, we have assembled a highly focused selection of paintings from a single iconic body of work and will present it as a small but beautiful post-script to the recent Hong Kong Museum of Art exhibition Andy Warhol: 15 Minutes Eternal. Our exhibition also celebrates a milestone that is particularly meaningful to us as we present our gallery's first exhibition in Hong Kong: Warhol's Dollar Signs series was first shown publicly at Leo Castelli Gallery in 1982, the very same year the artist made his own first-ever visit to Hong Kong and mainland China.
